How to install custom badges

What is GYTB?

GYTB is a piece of homebrew made by MrCheeze
GYTB basically allows users to add PNG files to the 3DS home menu by modifying the extdata from the Nintendo Badge Arcade

Section I - clearing your extdata

This is an optional step, but recommended if you want to inject new badges and you used GYTB before

Make sure your Nintendo 3DS is turned off

Always make backups! I am NOT responsible for data loss

1. Remove your SD card from your device, then insert your SD card into your computer
2. Delete the following folder if exist:
sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/ID/ID/extdata/00000000/000014d1
3. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS

Section II - Recreating extdata

1. Download Nintendo badge arcade from the Nintendo eShop if not already installed
2. Open Nintendo Badge Arcade
3. Press A at the menu and wait till you're in the arcade
4. Press HOME to return to the HOME menu
5. Close the app by pressing X
6. Check if you can place badges through the HOME-menu-settings
If you can't place badges start over at section I

Section III - Copying the custom badges

Make sure your Nintendo 3DS is turned off.

1. Remove your SD card from your device, then insert your SD card into your computer
2. Delete the "badges" folder from the SD card if exist
3. Create a new directory on the root called "badges"
4. Copy the badges downloaded here or anywhere else to the "badges" folder you just created
5. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS

Section IV - Dumping and Injecting

In this step you will dump the original badges you own and reinject them including the custom badges

1. Download (and install) GYTB if not already
2. Open GYTB (Either through the homebrew launcher or the installed CIA)
3. When opening GYTB, your official badges will be dumped automatically, just wait
4. When finished, Press the X button to inject the badges
5. When finished, you will be redirected to the HOME menu

Congrats! you now have custom badges!

If you want to inject new badges I recommend starting from Section I again
